New rule for commercial imports’ clearance
The clearance of commercial imports being trans-shipped to and cleared from all dry ports except Quetta will be completely done by a Single Declaration (SD) under Pakistan Single Window (PSW) from May 3, 2023. All traders and importers engaged in importing the aforementioned items/ commodities are requested to file a Single Declaration (Imports) through PSW system for the clearance of their import consignments from May 3, 2023.
Trade-related data gathered through PSW declared confidential
Pakistan Customs has declared that any trade-related information, transmission, documents, data or record gathered through the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) system shall be confidential. According to the SRO.406(I)2023 issued the new procedure shall apply to all persons, entities, government departments, and other public and private firms and organizations connected to the PSW system or receiving PSW trade data for any commercial or non-commercial use.
Pakistan Customs Allows Global Sharing of Single Window Data
Pakistan Customs has given conditional permission for the exchange and use of data, statistics, and information obtained under the Pakistan Single Window Act, both domestically and internationally.
Pakistan Customs to Ensure Confidentiality of Trade-Related Data Gathered Through PSW System
All data recipients receiving trade data from the PSW system under any MoU, agreement, court’s order or authorization by the PSW Governing Council shall undertake to treat the received data as confidential and, to not share it or otherwise make it accessible to any third party without intimating and receiving the prior approval in writing of the operating entity and subject to any other such conditions as the operating entity may specify.
Pakistan Customs Issues Rules for Trade Data Dissemination of Pakistan Single Window
Pakistan Customs issued rules for dissemination of data of Pakistan Single Window (PSW). Any trade related information, transmission, documents, data or record gathered through the PSW system under the Act shall be confidential and shall not be used except as provided under these rules.
FTO issues directives to FBR, SBP in timely completion of export rebates
Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) has issued directives to relevant authorities to ensuring timely completion and credit of rebates to exporters. FTO directed Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to direct the Collector, Collectorate of Customs (Export) Karachi, Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and Islamabad Airport, Islamabad to dispose of pending export rebates expeditiously by completing the necessary verification as per law, within 30 days.
Digitization accelerated at FBR
Director General (DG) Customs Automation and Reforms, Federal Board of Revenue, Syed Shakeel Shah launched various modules of the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) to facilitate traders with an automated and digitized environment. DG Customs said Pakistan Single Window portal has already been put in place and over 70 departments could be accessed through a single platform from all across the country.

Orientation Session held for Women Entrepreneurs
The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Thursday organised an orientation session on Pakistan single window for women entrepreneurs at the chamber house. RCCI President Saqib Rafiq said the aim was to provide a platform for achieving gender equality and women’s economic empowerment.
