PSW at the World Internet Conference (WIC) 2024


PSW was honored to participate in the World Internet Conference (WIC), an annual event held in the picturesque city of Wuzhen, China at the invitation of the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP), a subsidiary of the Alibaba Group.  Syed Aftab Haider, CEO PSW was further invited to deliver a keynote speech in the session on ‘Globalization and International Cooperation of Cross-Border E-Commerce' wherein he highlighted the challenges faced by the developing countries in particular and emphasized the need for international collaboration to unlock the potential benefits of cross-border e-commerce for Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and women led businesses in developing countries like Pakistan.  

The CEO was joined in the visit by Mr. Naveed Abbas Memon, PSW’s Chief Domain Officer and Mr. Faisal Butt, PSW’s Private Sector Specialist. In addition to participation in the event, the PSW team also held meetings with Alibaba Group at their headquarters in Hangzhou to discuss the on-going collaboration with eWTP for the development of the Pakistan E-Commerce Platform (PEP), and to explore potential areas for further strategic collaboration on a national and regional level through adoption of innovative technologies to digitize the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem. 

PEP is a joint initiative of PSW and eWTP that utilizes the single window principles on single data submission, and interoperability to connect all cross-border e-commerce stakeholders on a single electronic platform for exchange of information for customs, regulatory clearances and cross-border payment reconciliation. The platform is aligned with international best practices and adheres to the WCO Framework of Standards on Cross Border e-Commerce. The platform is expected to be launched next year.
