Pakistan outlines barter trade plans with Afghanistan, Iran, Russia
In another step to release pressures on dwindling foreign exchange reserves, Pakistan has opened up barter trade with Afghanistan, Iran, and Russia for certain items including petroleum, LNG, coal, wheat, pulses, minerals, metals, and several food items.
Pak-China portal launched for Mango Trade
Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) is planning to initiate Pakistan-China Trade Portal as Chinese people prefer online shopping. According to President Moazzam Ali Ghurki, PCJCCI, Pakistani exporters could use this platform for mango exports.
PSW automates import of pesticides
PSW has deployed the unified registration system enabling electronic registration of pesticide products and premises with the Department for Plant Protection (DPP). Under Pakistan’s trade regulations, all imports of pesticides are subject to mandatory Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) by independent third parties to ensure that imported pesticides conform to international and national requirements.
New PSW service to digitise pesticide imports
Pakistan Single Window has launched a new service to facilitate the import and clearance of pesticides in Pakistan. New module is based upon electronic validations driven by PSW’s integration with the DPP and the indigenously developed Integrated Tariff for Trade (ITT) which allows pesticide traders to provide 4-digit product codes while filing a declaration on the PSW system.

Pesticide imports: Electronic endorsement of PSI certifications from tomorrow
The electronic endorsement of Prior-Shipment Inspection (PSI) certifications for pesticide imports will be commenced under the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) system by May 22, 2023. Under the Import Policy Order 2022, the import of pesticides is subject to PSI Certification by pre-shipment certification companies authorized by the DPP.
PSW discontinues manual certification for prior-shipment inspection from May 22, 2023
Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has recently announced the discontinuation of manual certification for prior-shipment inspection (PSI) for customs clearance, starting from May 22, 2023. This move, in line with the Import Policy Order, 2022, aims to streamline the import process and enhance efficiency through automation.
Karachi Chamber calls for a separate currency exchange portal to boost trade facilitation
The KCCI has put forth the following proposal as part of its recommendations for the budget 2023-2024: The SBP should establish a digital portal, like the one used by the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), specifically for buying and selling foreign currencies, including the US Dollar.

PSW extends scope of operations to all dry ports except Quetta
With the new development, goods, and commodities clearance of commercial consignments classified under Chapters 1 to 50 of the Pakistan Customs Tariff has been completely switched to PSW, allowing clearance of imported consignments via submission of a Single Declaration (SD).
