All Government Agencies Required to Implement PCA of Imports, Exports

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it compulsory for all government agencies integrated with the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) system to implement the Post Clearance Audit (PCA) of imports and exports. Under the new Pakistan Single Window Integrated Risk Management System (IRMS) Rules, 2023, all the government agencies integrated with the PSW system shall put in place a mechanism for PCA of transactions processed through IRMS to ensure compliance with the Customs and other trade-related laws and regulations.

Pakistan Ranks High With 14% Jump In UN’s Trade Facilitation Rankings

Pakistan has made significant progress in trade facilitation, resulting in a remarkable 14% jump in its global ranking in 2023 owing to the implementation of multiple reforms and automation initiatives with special emphasis on the Pakistan Single Window system, as reported by the United Nations. In the South Asia region, Pakistan has been ranked the second best in terms of efficiency of International Trade.

BoI Organizes Workshop On Regulatory Reforms Through Principle Based Regulatory Framework For Energy

The Board of Investment (BOI) organized a workshop on "Regulatory Reforms through Principle Based Regulatory Framework" for Energy (Power & Petroleum), Water Resources, Maritime (Ports), and Media & Communications sectors on July 31, to identify regulatory reforms by lowering compliance burden on businesses. A large number of senior officials from relevant Ministries and Departments attended the Workshop, said a press release issued here. Moreover, Mentors from the Private Sector and Academia were engaged in the development of reform proposals in active collaboration with the public sector during the workshop.

Trade Facilitation Through Single Window

The World Trade Organization mentions the national single window as one of the means of facilitating trade in Article 10 of the Trade Facilitation Agreement. It creates a smooth flow of information, avoids duplication of information and information flow, and allows resource optimization from the points of view of both traders and governmental agencies.
