Grant of phytosanitary certificates at Torkham Border

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) in collaboration with the Department of Plant Protection (DPP) successfully rolled out the electronic processing and issuance of the phytosanitary certificates at the Torkham border crossing with Afghanistan. Exports of all commodities falling under the jurisdiction of the DPP will be processed through the Single Window system on the filing of the single declaration and will be subject to the electronic issuance of a phytosanitary certificate by the DPP.

PSW to issue electronic phytosanitary certificates

Pakistan Single Window (PSW), in collaboration with the Department of Plant Protection (DPP), has launched electronic processing and issuance of the phytosanitary certificates at the Torkham border crossing with Afghanistan. The system eliminates the need for physical visits to the DPP offices, digitizes the application, processing, and issuance process of the phytosanitary certificate, and seamlessly integrates the land border clearances with the PSW system already offering the same services at the seaports and international air freight units.

PSW Implements E-Phytosanitary Certificates at the Torkham Border

Boosting trader participation in the capital market will improve the volume of transactions in Pakistan. One of the key challenges facing the Pakistan now is volume of business. Trade regulation in areas such as testing, certification and licensing are challenging for 60% of Pakistan’s agricultural exporters. To address these issues and expand market reach the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) con- ducted capacity building sessions in Faisalabad and Gujranwala in collaboration with the All-Pakistan Bedsheets & Upholstery Association of Pakistan (APBUMA) and the Seed Importers and Producers Association of Pakistan (SIPAP) as part of its Change Management component.

Over 52,000 Users Registered with PSW During One Year

The number of registered users of the Pakistan Single Window (PSW) system reached 52,000 by the end of the first phase of the project which was launched last year in line with Pakistan's commitment to the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. The system offered services including electronic customs registration, online processing, and issuance of import permits. Besides, the system also offered phytosanitary certificates, release orders and other documents pertaining to government agencies, and digital payments.

The session was attended by a large number of importers and exporters transitioning to the Single Window system.
